What is ITS

ITS is...

what is an advanced traffic system?
ITS stands for intelligent transportation system which is a ubiquitous advanced traffic system in the 21st century that can effectively control traffic jams and significantly improve the reliability by applying advanced technologies such as information/ electronics/ communication/ controls to th existing transportation elements such as roads, cars and freights. It can maximize the efficiency of traffic such as improvements of traffic conditions, convenience of traffic use and energy saving.

Composition
It is mainly comprised of three phases – first, the traffic information is collected from a collection device such as CCTV, second it is analyzed and processed by the system and third, it is provided to the users.

Since 2002, Ulsan city has been operating an ITS (intelligent transportation system) that replaces the existing bus information system (BIS). Ulsan city installed the Ulsan Traffic Management Center (UTMC) and is the first metropolitan city government to implement an advanced traffic information system. Ulsan city is creating role models for ITS in the world.
Especially, according to the transportation policy of Ulsan city, along with the traffic information service, the traffic signal system is comprehensively monitored by our system that can controls a flexible flow of the traffic. Traffic loads in the congested areas are distributed, and the traffic jams are eliminated. The traffic flows between the metropolitans and the real time road traffic information in interconnections with the signal control systems are supplied by combining all the information occurring on the roads.
From now on, the Ulsan traffic management center will implement an advanced intelligent information system to supply more efficient traffic information.
